Roots of Empathy!

This year 5th and 6th are involved in Roots of Empathy. They will meet the babies next week for the first time. They had a pre-visit lesson with Ciara and Mary this week to introduce them to the programme. They are all very excited about meeting their new tiny teacher!

Some paintings by 5th Class!

The girls cut out a section of a magazine and glued it down on their paper. They were creative and continued the rest of the painting using their imaginations. Here are some examples...

I spy with my little EYE!

Fifth Class created some fantastic art this week. They studied the artist Rene Magritte who became famous for her witty and thought-provoking images. The children recreated some of her art using a CD for the template of the eye and creating an image inside the eye. Here is some examples of their work.

Fifth Class are learning some Irish songs this month!

There are two songs this month. The song above is Amhrán na gCupán or The Cup Song.

The song below is the Abba hit Mamma Mia. The girls are having great fun learning them.

Fifth Class Maths and Geography Class Activity

5th Class learned all about Ireland and car registrations this month in Geography. The class were grouped up into teams and they had to go record the car registrations in the school car park. The results were laid out on a bar chart and the numbers were used to add and subtract in our Maths copies. Look at the results!

5th Class had a visitor!

Earlier this month Ms.Healy dropped in with one of the 'chicks' from last year. Although as you can see it was no longer a small chick but a much bigger hen. She brought it in in a container and the class got to see how quickly their chicks had grown up. We were all in shock! It was a great surprise!

Fifth Class are amazing artists!

September has been a very artistic month in Ms.Breen's fifth class. All the girls have shown great talent and created some great work. They created a Scream Blow Art picture using blow painting, some self-portraits and last week created their own tessellation pictures using fish templates. Keep up the great work girls!:)
