The school had their Easter Awards on Thursday. Everyone has worked hard this term. It was a tough decision to pick 6 children but in the end Megan Byrne, Charlize, Kayleigh, Tanya, Katelyn and Julia were our winners. Well done!

5th Class Work!
5th Class have been working hard this month. They read 'James and the Giant Peach' in class and at home. They created a giant peach using paper plates and created book covers. They wrote book reports once they have finished the novel.
They have also been studying 'Italy' and 'The Renaissance' this month. They looked at artists and in particular Michelangelo and Leonardo Di Vinci. They recreated their own Mona Lisa giving her a modern twist.

The Wiz Kids Table Quiz
This year 6th Class have been involved in JEP (Junior Entrepreneur Programme) where they have learnt about what it is to be a entrepreneur and the principles of running a business. It was decided by the class to run a table quiz for the entire school which proved to be highly successful. The girls wrote all the questions and worked really hard on the project. All the boys and girls from the junior end of the school, right up to 5th class really had a great time eating jellies and participating in the quiz. The winners of the table quiz received medals and Easter eggs and everyone who took part got a lollipops to take home. We might even hold another one next year! Great job to the 6th class girls!
6th Class Confirmation
On a very sunny Saturday the 21st of March, the 6th class girls received the sacrament of Confirmation. It was a very special day for all the girls who shared it with their families and sponsors. Fr. Larry led the ceremony and he congratulated the girls and their parents on this special milestone in their lives. The girls participated in the mass extremely well and we are all so proud of them. Well Done ladies.
Letter Writing to our Idols!
6th Class have had a busy few weeks. Writing letters to our idols was a highlight. The girls learned all about the format of letter writing and the steps involved in posting a letter. Brian O' Driscoll, Katie Taylor and Henry Shefflin were among the people whom the girls wrote to. We have already received two replies from Rachel Allen and Michael Flatley which caused great excitement in the classroom. Here's hoping more replies will come soon!
The Kitchen Laboratory
5th Class enjoyed a lesson based on testing things they would find in the kitchen to see if they were acids or bases. The class used litmus paper to test the liquids such as lemon juice, washing up liquid and vinegar.
GAA Coaching
5th Class have had a great term learning new GAA skills with Willie their coach. They played football and hurling in the past few weeks.

Full Attendance Certificates for January and February
Ms.Collins gave out the certificates for the full attendees in the class for January and February. Well done to all the class as we had the best attendance for the month of February.
Seachtain na Gaeilge - Lá Glas agus Ceolchoirm
On the last day of Seachtain na Gaeilge the school had their 'Lá Glas' and a school concert. Well done to all the classes in the school!

Easons Spelling Bee County Final

Seachtain na Gaeilge
5th Class spent the first day of Seachtain na Gaeilge teaching all the students in the school 'Haka as Gaeilge'. Well done everyone!
World Book Day Bookshop Visit
As part of World Book Day a lot of classes in the school went to Dubray Bookshop to listen to a children's author. 4th and 5th Class went to see Alan Nolan, author of 'Fintan's Fifteen'. He got the classes drawing cartoons which they all really enjoyed.
Easons Spelling Bee School Final
5th and 6th Class have been working hard at their spelling the past few weeks in preparation for the next round of the Eason's Spelling Bee. After a long knock out round, the winner to go forward to the county finals is Pauline in 5th Class. Well done everybody who took part!!
